The Village Press is a shared making space at The Design Village, where learners explore how ideas take physical form through print, publishing, and material experimentation. It encourages hands-on engagement with formats such as zines, posters, books, and printed editions, while helping learners understand how design can be produced, circulated, and experienced through tangible outcomes.

CHOWK AND CHARPAI

London Design Biennale 2023

This publication documents the research, design development, and realisation of the India Pavilion at the London Design Biennale 2023, presented at Somerset House, London.

Conceived by The Design Village and Studio Archohm, the pavilion reinterpreted the contemporary Indian chowk through the visual metaphor of the charpai a timeless symbol of Indian craft, adaptability, and everyday life. Alongside the project's conceptual and making process, the publication reflects on the ideas, collaborations, and design decisions that shaped the pavilion, which was awarded Second Place in the Public Medal.
